No, generally a Registered Onsite Wastewater Practitioner (ROWP) can plan and install a system. An owner must use the services of an authorized professional engineer or an ROWP to construct, alter or repair a sewage disposal system. An engineer is required when the daily design flows exceed 9,100 L or when the Standard Practice Manual 3 cannot be met.
A gravity system relies on gravity to distribute effluent. It tends to be cheaper and easier to maintain; HOWEVER, not all sites or homes allow for gravity distribution.
A pressurized system uses a pump to get the effluent to the distribution field. It tends to cost more than a gravity system; HOWEVER, sometimes pressure is required and these systems tend to last longer and preform better.
Contact us! We are happy to discuss your options and schedule at any time. Generally we begin the process with a site assessment and evaluate soil conditions. Using information gathered this day as well as information provided by you in the form of a Property Owner’s Declaration, we produce a Record or Sewerage System to be filed with Interior Health. This filing is valid for two years.
